The only sources “supposedly" reliable that nowadays most homeowners have at their disposal are through marketing companies such as Homeadvisor, Craftjack, Thumbtack, Angie's list, Quinstreet, and Modernize to mention a few, and many others like them, all these companies do the same thing; all of them promote and offer the homeowners who use their services, a maximum of three contractors to quote their projects but without the guarantee of their successful development.

In this scenario, the client communicates with any of these marketing companies, they give them the project information which includes their name, their address, contact number, e-mail, and a short description of the project, and that same information, is sold to three or four contractors, which apart from accessing the customer information without even knowing if they will ended up developing the project, that confidential information is already in the hands of three or four contractors besides the marketing company, who may obviously, use that information to send offers to the customers without their consent. This is only one of the many reasons why it is not convenient to work with such companies because all they do is take advantage of the two parties: the clients, by giving away and exposing their information, and the contractors, by selling them the information without any guaranties.
